Bell Square Pavilion

2014

Assemble are designing a new pavilion for a public square in Hounslow.

Bell Square Pavilion is a new base for outdoor events and performances in Hounslow Town Centre. The compact, two-storey building will accommodate back of house functions and technical rooms for the production company Watermans, as well as a raked seating area for the audience during performances.

Outside of these performances the pavilion will be a functional part of the square. External signage will advertise upcoming shows and the simple stepped seating will invite informal use, forming a backdrop for the theatre of everyday life.

The design combines off the shelf and bespoke materials that are beautiful, economic and robust. The primary structure is a simple blockwork with pre cast acid etched concrete treads, combine with an exterior skin of decorative glazed porcelain tiles.
